About

Valley Deal Seekers is a website about saving money.  Carla and Amanda LOVE shopping and HATE spending money on things they have to buy! So they started this blog to highlight how to stop spending so much on the things you have to buy so you can spend more on the things you want to buy.

Have you checked out the All You magazine. They are loaded with coupons.

  4. Mindy Bueng says:

I read the post on grocery stores doubling coupons, but was wondering if that was something they do every day, or just one day a week. If it is just on certain days, would you know what those days are?

    • amanda says:

I am so sorry but I was one of the winners of the insert and I don’t know how to get it from you- can you leave it somewhere when you come to Fergus to shop :)

  7. Marshall says:

I have kept a journal of the 3 FM grocery store circulars for a year and would be willing to share them with you if you would like to research when products come on sale and the frequency that they do.

I could send the files or a CD if you are interested. Amazing how the price of fuel raises the cost of the products.

    Thanks

    • amanda says:

Hey Marshall – That sounds like information that is right up our alley. Go ahead and email us at valleydealseekers(@) hotmaildotcom.
      Thanks
      Amanda

    • Cindy says:

Marshall, would you be willing to share this with others… because I would find that very interesting. If so, my email is couponmomMN @ hotmail.com

      Thanks!

  8. AMANDA LANGSETH says:

OPHRA.COM HAS A 50% OFF ONE ITEM AT OLD NAVY FOR THIS WEEKEND JUST SEARCH FOR “OLD NAVY COUPON” AND IT COMES UP. PDF FORMAT : )

  9. Faith says:

I am new to this. I see in the coupon database that a lot of the coupons are from SS and are dated. Can you access the coupons from past weeks and how?

    • amanda says:

Hi Faith – I’m not sure if this is the information that you are looking for but the SS stands for the type of insert that the coupon is in and date is that date that it was in the Sunday News Paper. So if it says SS 5-15, you can find that coupon in the Smart Source insert from the 5-15 Sunday paper.
      Thanks – Amanda

  10. Deb says:

Is the Star Tribune available in Breckenridge?

  11. steph Finke says:

I was just wondering if you can use dairy coupons in North Dakota? Years ago I cashiered and at that time you couldn’t.

    Thanks- Steph

    • amanda says:

Nope, they can not be used in ND. Can’t remember the law but sometimes because of the way yogurt is processed you can use yogurt coupons but not milk or creamer. I try to remember when doing match-ups to make sure and mention it but forget a lot more than not. :)

  12. LuAnn says:

I found a great deal…actually a few but let me share this with you.

5/1 S there is a 50 cents off for any 2 nestle candy bars. Right now they are 4/$3 at Cashwise. 4/3= 1.30. Cashwise will double the coupon to $1. To make it short and sweet, with 2 coupons you are getting them for FREE.

    • amanda says:

Last time I went through the 13th Ave Hornbacher’s they had them 5 for $2 and the 32nd Ave Hornbachers had them for 4 for $2. I LOVE FREE CANDY…..it tastes sooooo much better.

  13. Adonia says:

There is a website called thunderfap.com, they offer lots of free samples and coupons! A couple other places are startsampling.com (if you put my name in the referral box when signing up I get extra points! If you sign up for startsampling you get points every day that you go there and will eventually earn enough points for some really good things!) and the other one that I have found is Vocalponit.com. They send free samples and a lot of times they send coupons with the sample product (some of the coupons are great, for example, I got a coupon for a free box of Rice Krispies!)

  14. A friend just sent me your site and suggested I add you to the coupon blog reviews. Is that ok? You can go to http://www.mrscarrigan.com and fill out the information if you are interested.

  15. Jackie says:

I was wondering if anyone knows of a site that matches up coupon deals for Hugos and Superone? I’m just getting into this couponing stuff and need help getting them organized and how to even start matching up the deals.

  16. Jennier says:

I am having troubles printing Target coupons. Can anyone help me. I have tried downloading what they say to download but it still does not work.

    • Holly says:

What browser are you using? I know I used to have troubles printing Target coupons through Firefox so I always had to use Internet Explorer. Now I seem to be able to use either browser but if you haven’t tried printing them through Internet Explorer yet perhaps that is something you could try. I hope you get it to work! :)

  17. Kim says:

On maltomeal.com site has a $1 off on cereal. Jubilee has that on sale this week. You can only do one on the computer &/or e-mail.

    • amanda says:

Make sure to watch the size of the bag that you purchase. They usually put a size restriction of 12.5oz or larger on their coupons. Many times the sizes that are on sale are 11oz to 12oz and the coupon does not fit.

  18. Our Family says:

New link to Our Family Coupons (as of 06/14/2011) http://www.ourfamilyfoods.com/ofq.htm
Please update your coupon information for Our Family brand coupons. Thanks.

  19. Lauren says:

Amanda, I have follwed you from day 1. Wow,I just love your site. Is this three years now since you started ths going? Are you going to be on another talk show soon. I really look forward to it! I’m taking your next class at CashWise, I took one awhiie back, but I need to brush up on my skills and whats new! When did your partner join you?
The class at Cash Wise is this Monday? Can I pay at the door and bring a friend?
Thank’s Amanda for starting whole new way of saving big bucks!
    Lauren

    • amanda says:

Hi Lauren, I don’t have your name on the list for the Monday class, I might just have missed it when I was getting everything in the database. If you could send us an email at valleydealseekers at hotmail.com I will get you on there. It looks like we may hit the 70 people limit for the class. It has been 3 years since I started couponing and a year and a half since Carla and I started to site. Thank you so much for you kind words, it means the world to us. If you liked us on Chris’ show just let him know and we can line something up I’m sure.
      Thanks!

I love you and I love Catalinas….and I love you and I love Catalinas….and I love you and I love Catalinas! I bought an insane amount of items at Cashwise today and thanks to your knowledge you gave me on Catalinas along with my coupons, I left them only with 29 bucks. ;)

  21. Libby says:

I heard a rumor that you will be on extreme couponing. Any truth in this? If so when will it air on TV?

  22. Angi Sellers says:

Minute Man Printing coupons. I noticed some posts last week regarding coupons being at Minute Man Printing. Can you please explain to how to go about getting on the list to get papers there and how it all works.
    Thanks in advance
    Angi

  23. Melissa Stuart says:

I would like to start getting your weekly paper that you deliver to minute man press…I would like to start with 2 if possible. Let me know…Thanks!!

  24. Kim says:

I just noticed that when I print the same coupon twice it has the same bar code numbers. Is that usable?

  25. LuAnn says:

FYI on a deal I got today. From the P&G, there is a $2 for Oral B toothbrush with many options. One is the Advantage toothbrush. They were $2.44 and are on sale at Wal-Mart now for $1.98 which after a $2 coupon makes them free plus an overage of 2 cents! :)

  26. AMANDA says:

I JUST CAME ACROSS A RANDOM PAGE ON EBAY… http://extras.ebay.com/…THERE ARE LINKS TO SAMPLES AS WELL AS SOME COUPONS. I DIDN’T HAVE TO LOGIN TO EBAY TO ACCESS.

  27. Abby says:

Does anyone know how I can get the “Infant Care Booklet” from Walgreens? Thanks in advance!

  28. Pam Kinneberg says:

    I have a question:
When it says R or #2R behind the insert where a coupon can be found…what does that mean??
    Like: (RP 07/31/11 #2R)

  29. Lori says:

I (my husband) picked up 2 inserts last night in Fargo. When I went through them last night, one pack did not have any of the coupon inserts.

    • amanda says:

If you run them back they will swap out your paper for one with inserts. There are times that the newspapers filling machine does not work properly and will miss putting inserts in one of the papers. It is a good habit to check your papers before you leave the store no matter where you are purchasing them from.

  30. Emily Dahl says:

Hi, I would like to switch my inserts from Fargo to Fergus Falls I get 10 and would like to upgrade to 25, please let me know if that works and where the pickup spot is in Fergus?
(I posted this on your Facebook wall on the 13th but never got a response. I am wondering if this is ok? Where the pickup spot is located? and if they are in fergus for me to pick up this week beings I am here today? Please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated! :) )

  31. Michele Hoffer says:

When you guys said you can print two prints you do it at the same time? Like setting your printer to be at 2 prints…..or go to the site 2 different times??

  32. Michele Hoffer says:

    What is a mobile tq

    • amanda says:

It is a mobile Target coupon. If you have a smart phone you can sign up for mobile Target coupons by going to their web-site and going to the coupon section of the site. There you will be able to print Target coupons but also sign up for them to send different Target coupons straight to your phone! The cashier will actually scan a special barcode on your phone to get the coupons.

  33. Emma Haugen says:

I saw you two on Extreme Couponing last night (rerun)! You guys were awesome! And hillarious!!!
    LOVED IT!

  35. Julie Bottchen says:

Went to walmart in fargo on friday night. They said the breath right strips and a few other things that i thought were on sale were not. I put alot of time into my shopping trip and left the store empty handed. What am i doing wrong? Same thing happened to me in Wahpeton? Things i thought were on sale were not. And all of the razors were gone at both both stores! I left the store in tears. So i dont know what to do? And how do i know if its a good deal?

  37. SSJ says:

    Julie,

Please do not be discouraged! It’s a fact of couponing life that there might not be enough sale items at the stores, and what’s on sale in one Walmart, might not be in another. I don’t expect any coupon blogger to write up every single match-up for every stores, that’d be a waste of precious manpower. As a result you often see “borrowed” retail store postings. If you’re curious, just click on “Thanks so and so”, or “Click here for full listing”, and eventually you might find who wrote it and if they’re local at all!

Earlier this year there supposed to be free Wilkinson Sword razor at Walmart. I’ve wasted so much time and gas, didn’t find any before the coupon expired. Later another Wilkinson Sword coupon came up and I finally found one pack at Moorhead Walmart. My excitement was short-lived when I accidentally step on the package when I got home. Man was I upset!

Slowly I realized there’ll always be another sale, and sometimes it’s okay to pay $1 for the shampoo that I really, really want, instead of being stuck with many free ones that I never liked. It also doesn’t bother me much anymore if I miss another freebie/money making deal. However, if there’s a deal you just can’t miss, it doesn’t hurt to hit the store as soon as the new sale starts. You might find that your stores actually don’t have that many sale items to start with!

Oh and what’s a good deal? The more “!” following the final price, the better the deal. Some website simply high light good deals with differet color font; some others might have a special “stock up” symbol. Another way is to enter whatever you’re looking to buy in the search boxes, you’ll find past postings about that product. That always helps me with an unfamiliar purchase. Good luck!

  38. Julie Bottchen says:

Thanks so much for helping me understand a little more! I really appreciate it.

  39. Michele Hoffer says:

What business are near Savecoin? What are the pickup times?

  40. wanita says:

i tried to click on the hats benie hats 2 for 4.99 but nothing came up what do i do.

  41. Karlene Ellingson says:

I think I hit a awesome deal that I would like to share with you. At bath and body works I bought 6 lotions for $23.12. They are running a special for buy 3 get 3 free. With the coupon for $10.00 off $30.00. I got them for $3.58 apiece. Each lotion is $10.50 regular price. Let me know if this was a good deal.

    Thanks

  42. Jen says:

For Coupons.com, is there a better zip code than our local one?? I am seeing lots of links on here for certain coupons, but can’t find them when i go to the link…

  43. Michele Hoffer says:

Getting frustrated can’t get printable coupons to print tonight and I am afraid of wasting my chances…running a full virus scan on my computer now!

    • Michele Hoffer says:

Virus scan found six tracking cookies and fixed them but gave up trying to printing tonight printer said it was deleting the job but it wouldnt disappear very frustuating!

  44. Amanda says:

Carla or Amanda~ Do you know can you stack coupons that say “Free pasta with the Purchase of two Ragu sauces AND then use a .50 cent off 1 jar of Ragu.? You two seem to know the loopholes and everything. Thanks for the website. With money being tight and finally being able to understand how to maximies the coupons, I’ve been able to walk out with FREE diapers due to overage. GREAT FEELING!!! THANKS!!!!

    • amanda says:

Hi Amanda- It will completely depend on the store and not even SunMart versus CashWise but SunMart versus SunMart. Most kof the stores that we have dealt with in our area would accept that scenario. Now if the coupon said something like purchase 2 Ragu and any 1 pasta get $1.50 off then 99% of stores will not allow any other coupons with that one. In the senecio you gave the coupon expresses a discount on the pasta and not the Ragu so you should still be able to use one coupon on each of the Ragu’s. But not ever store will see it this way. I know this seems wishie washie but knowing your store and knowing the managers really helps in these situations so you can ask before you fill up your cart. I hope I helped at least a little. Thanks Amanda

  45. nancy says:

looking for peanut butter coupons can not find any do know where i can find some

    • amanda says:

      Hi Nancy,
There are $0.75/1 Smart Balance PB Q’s in the inserts. Planters PB is also included in the list of items good towards the $1.25/3 Holiday Booklet that you can find in most stores right now in Holiday display set ups.

      • Betsey says:

yesterday at the Fargo Walmart I tried to use 2 coupons that i had for Yoplait Yogurt. Walmart had their 8 pack boxes on sale for $4 and I had one coupon for $1 off 10 and another for 40 or 50 cents of 6. I purchased 2 boxes =16 yogurt. I was told by the cashier that I had to buy individual cups, which were NOT on sale, in order to use the coupon. She got a manager when I argued that the coupon stated ANY Yoplait yogurt. The manager told me that I was wrong despite my protest that the coupon says ANY. He continued to argue with me about it and I finally stated that I was done arguing with him and that I would choose not to buy groceries there any longer. It was a very frustrating experience especially when those were the only two coupons i was even using that day. Seems a little petty to me that they are going to refuse a $1.50 discount to a customer over their interpretation of the wording on a coupon.

        • SSJ says:

          Coupons in question:
          $1/10 Yoplait Yogurt Cups
          $0.40/6 Yoplait Yogurt Cups

These two coupons are meant for more expensive individual cups (note that each bears its own bar code), not any kind of multipacks. If a coupon is for a multipack, it would have said so. Two examples from General Mills 9/11: $.50/1 Yoplait Fiber One, Delights, Light multipacks or original or Greek 4pks, AND, $.50/1 Yoplait original or light 4pk. (Exception: Kid’s Yoplait coupons might not specify multipacks, as they all are multipacks).

Also we can only use 1 manufacture coupon on products that are bundled together. You may see 8 cups in a pack, but there’s only one bar code, so that whole thing is treated as one whole product. We can not use 1 coupon to cover a portion of a complete product, and use another coupon to cover another portion. Same for those 2-pack deodorant, 3-pack Lysol wipes… etc. Pretty much the rule of thumb is 1 coupon for each bar code. Hope that helps.

  46. Betsey says:

Has anyone else had issues using coupons for dairy products in the area. earlier this week I was told that it was against the law for stores to accept coupons for dairy products in ND. News to me. Also, I have been running into issue in the FM area using my coupons in general as certain stores seem the feel that they can interpret the coupon how they see fit so as to limit our ability to use them.

  47. Ladina says:

There are a few stores that seem to want to fight the coupons and nit pick down to “you have to purchase what the picture is of on the coupon” they don’t consider the wording. It may be helpful to have coupon policies with. My sister and I go on a weekly early A.M. shopping trip and we have quit going to one grocery store in Moorhead due to the issues with the couponing. We were basically told that the store was not equipped to check out people with coupons and that daytime hours when the courtesy counter was open would be our best bet. We ended up leaving a full cart of our items. Sad thing that same item was purchased at the Fargo location with no trouble going thru the checkout line. I think it is just the attitude of the cashier at the time!!!!!! I do have to say that I’m giving a hats off to the gentleman that was working at the Fargo Hornbacher’s this morning, he was wonderful in helping us and enjoyed his job. Made the trip such a breaze and wished that all the cashiers had his attitude!!!!

  48. Karlene Ellingson says:

What Walmart store can I find the robitussin to go?

  49. sadie says:

IN the coupon database it says that there is a coupon for Huggies this week. I did not have a huggies coupon in my SS; do you know why it might not have been in my SS?

  50. Katie Heller says:

My husband just went to reshape to get some coupons and they said if the name is not on the list they won’t give them to you. What can we do?

  51. Karlene Ellingson says:

Do you have any Sunday papers left

  52. Cindee karels says:

my husband just picked up 5 papers from the Reshape site in moorhead and 4 of my 5 papers had no coupons in them! Missy said to contact you as to how you want to handle this. i have paid for them already. 12:32pm Thursday dec 15th.

  53. Michele Hoffer says:

Carla and Amanda, What do you guys do with the coupons you don’t use??? Anyone do any coupon swaps??

  54. Carla, I know you are a paper distributor, can I buy inserts from you? I need ALOT of inserts. Thanks!

  55. Skylar says:

    Hi Carla and Amanda,
I am a student at Minot State University and have been required to complete a Social Action assignment for Social Work 426. I am a fan of the extreme couponing show and as I was watching it one day, I saw that you were from North Dakota, and an idea came across my mind as I was planning ahead for this class and knew this large project was coming up. I was wondering if you two would be willing to go shopping on a day we could set up, and with the purchases donate them to the Minot Homeless coalition/food bank. If you could get back to me either way I would greatly appreciate it! You can email me at the listed address or call me at 1-306-485-7946
    Thank you for your time!
    Skylar Gunderman

  56. Glen Meyer says:

Skylar in his posting above has captured the same thought I had. In October each year during the United Way drive, we have a friendly competition between the different buildings in Fargo to supply the most pounds of food or supplies to organizations in need. Some people bring in food items that are currently being requested by their favorite food shelters but most simply give money. With the money, we purchase high poundage items in need. I’m sure that we could multiply what we supply if we had some purchasing expertise.

Is there any desire out there to partner up for a good cause? An ideal association would involve one (or one team of) coupon experts for each of the 5 buildings making it a competition for all involved.

Since this is a large corporation, it would take some time to get proper permission should we want any media attention, hence my request months in advance.

    Glen

  57. Emma Lynn Haugen says:

Carla, I stopped in at your store the other night to say Hi. It was great meeting you and you have a wonderful Frame Shop! Next time I need something professionally framed, I’ll make sure to come to you.
Keep up the excellent work with your website. Valley Deal Seekers is my favorite site to look up what good deals are out there in our farm country.

    • Carla says:

Thank you Emma! It was great to meet you also! Stop by anytime your in Wahpeton /Breckenridge next time to visit. Thank You for going on our site!

  58. Lisa S. says:

Do you gals know if Walmart will take coupons (price match) from grocery stores that aren’t in our area, like Cub Foods?

  59. Carrie Hanson says:

I love this website! It is so helpful when I am looking for coupons. Thank you for all the time you guys put into this website. I do have one question for you. How do you find coupons for toilet paper so you can get it free, I usually find one for 0.45cents off or 0.50cents off? I know on the show they talk about getting it free and I really would love to do that.

  60. Carla says:

I have not found a coupon that makes bath tissue free. I have free paper towels. Brawny at cashwise a few weeks back!

  61. Carrie H says:

    Thank you!

  62. Karen says:

Does anyone have a stockup price for dishwasher tabs? Target has a B2G1 for Finish Powerball in their Bodega section for $11.99 for 96 tabs. I have a $2.15/1 and with my red card discount it brings it down to $.097 per tab. Is this a good price? Thanks.

  63. cm says:

    Carla,
If you go onto thekrazycouponlady.com and click on the read more for the pretzel m&m’s it tells you how to get them at walgreens for $1.

    thx

  64. Kayla K says:

I believe I was one of the winners for the 4 inserts, did you get my message?
    Thanks :)

  65. Tammy says:

Reshape has no more papers for the week. I had a standing order for 5.

  66. Karlene Ellingson says:

None of ss had the carefree coupon. Are they suppose to be in the 3/18/12 ss.

  67. lisa says:

I got mine in Sunday’s Star Tribune but not the Forum. Don’t know about the Press. Check half way into the insert. Used them at CVS with no problems. HTH

  68. Michelle says:

Hi Carla! Would love to have you girls come to Hallock, MN for a workshop. Did you have a good turnout in Cavalier.ND? Unfortunately I was gone that day so couldn’t attend. If you would ever consider it let me know!

  69. Kendra says:

    I miss Hornbacher’s coupon matchups!

  70. Liz Reprogal says:

Will there be any workshops soon? I am in Fargo and just starting to use coupons. I would love to attend a workshop if you have one in Fargo, or somewhere close.

Also, I am buying the Sunday Star Trib, is it worth buying the Forum? i know that the Forums inserts are sometimes smaller…

    Thank You!

  74. Kimberly says:

I was wondering which issue of the Star Tribune is the best one to buy, is it the Saturday addition?
